AMD Bulldozer rumoured to be 50% faster than Intel Core i7 950

Sandy Bridge has been a sucess, and there is no denying that, but whilst Intel are reaping in the sales, AMD are sitting back and getting things oh so right with their latest upcoming processor; Bulldozer.

Bulldozer which will feature up to eight PHYSICAL cores is said to rival the Intel Core i7 950 (one of Intel’s top mainstream CPUs) by giving 50% higher performance in comparison. It is also said that the new processor will give 50% higher performance than AMD’s very own flagship; the Phenom II X6 1100T hexa-core chip.

Now if this rumour turns out to be true, we believe that AMD could have worked a bit harder in the marketing department, as 50% performance over the i7 950 is a fantastic feat, why not mention the performance percentage over the six-core beast; Core i7 980X instead? Now that would really get the media buzzing in our eyes.

Not much is concrete yet or set in stone, but what we know about Bulldozer already is that it will be used on the AM3+ socket, manufacturered on a 32nm process and will feature four, six or eight cores with a TDP of up to 125W.
