AMD working on Next-Gen Playstation GPU

After the reports that AMD would be designing a GPU for the next generation of Xbox fresh reports have come out saying AMD is also going to be designing a GPU for the next generation of PlayStation. The Xbox 720 (what rumours suggest the next gen of Xbox will be named) will get a HD 6670 equivalent piece of graphical hardware in it. AMD currently provides graphics for the Xbox 360 and Wii consoles so this step would be nothing new for AMD. However, if you consider AMD could now potentially be doing Xbox 360, Xbox 720, Playstation 4 (or whatever the next-generation of PlayStation gets named) and Nintendo Wii which would give it a significant boost in sales, if AMD can keep up with production, and it would give AMD a near-monopoly over the console market.

This marks a change in strategy from Sony as the current PlayStation 3 uses an Nvidia GPU, clearly AMD proved the cheaper or faster option for Sony.
