The new ASUS Republic of Gamers GX800 is unlike any gaming laptop in the market. Not just because it is equipped with two GTX 1080s paired with an Intel Core i7-6820HK, but because it comes equipped with its own portable liquid cooling system. The GX800’s clock frequencies can hit 4.2GHz from 3.2GHz thanks to this Hydro Overclocking System connected via a proprietary connection. The coolant flows both on the CPU and the pair of graphics cards and then returns to the cooling system which has a pair of compact radiators inside.

Taking advantage of that powerful SLI GPU, the Republic of Gamers GX800 of course has an 18.4″ LED-backlit with a 16:9 aspect ratio 4K UHD display with anti-glare coating and 100% Adobe RGB.  A pair of GTX 1080 can easily run most games at 60fps smoothly under Ultra settings, plus it is equipped for NVIDIA G-Sync technology so gameplay remains smoother compared to regular gaming laptops.

ASUS did not spare any expense when it came to input keys either, utilizing a mechTAG mechanical keyboard that is fully RGB individually LED backlit. Inside, there is not just one, not two, but three M.2 NMVe SSDs in RAID 0 so there is as little bottleneck possible. It is still a laptop that can be used for other things than just gaming, so it also comes with 802.11AC wireless with Bluetooth, Thunderbolt 3 and built-in SABRE headphone DAC.

The ROG GX800 itself measures 458 x 338 x 454mm, and the detachable Hydro Overclocking System measures 359 x 418 x 133mm. This is not a lightweight laptop by any means, with the GX800 just by itself weighing 5.7kg plus 4.8kg for the hydro overclocking system. That is still fairly portable as far as a LAN party rig is concerned. That is why ASUS bundles the GX800 with its own ROG backpack and suitcase, so it can be transported with some peace of mind.
