Creative Sound Blaster Roar Pro Review

Enjoying your favourite music is nothing new, but in recent years, the ability to play music from an increasing number of mobile devices has more of us enjoying our media in a whole host of new ways and places. The main problem with mobile audio is that the speakers on many mobile devices are far from impressive, especially if you’re trying to entertain guests. Playing your favourite Spotify playlist from a mobile phone while hosting a BBQ isn’t going to win you and favours with your guests. The same goes for playing music in the office, or trying to make the most of those conference calls, the list goes on. Enter Creative, with their (at least on paper) very promising sounding Sound Blaster Roar Pro. This isn’t just your typical Bluetooth dock, this is designed to be a masterful all-in-one audio solution that can blow away the competition, and give you all the audio diversity you need at home, in the office, at a party, or anywhere else for that matter.

“Riding the success of the critically acclaimed Sound Blaster Roar, the Sound Blaster Roar Pro raises the bar for portable Bluetooth speakers with its improved 5-driver system that is powered by two high-performance amplifiers. The Roar Pro is also made for professionals in their respective fields. Pair with Creative iRoar Mic (sold separately), and you’ll get a wireless personal PA system (Public Address system) for presentations, conferences or even karaoke sessions!” – Creative

The Roar Pro doesn’t come cheap at £169.99, although even at that, its original launch price was £200, so that should give you some indication that this is more than a simple acoustic plaything. Equipped with five high-power speakers, subwoofer, bi-amplified design, a huge battery, wireless mic support, a powerful EQ system and so much more.

The Roar Pro comes neatly packaged in a well-designed box, giving you all the images you could hope for of the design from each side, as well as detailing some of the main specifications.

Around the back, a huge run-down of the main specifications, which are quite extensive, to say the least. The main focus here is that it delivers powerful, loud, and high-quality audio; one should hope so given that it’s a fairly expensive speaker system.

Everything comes neatly packaged, wrapped in protective coverings and protected by extra layers of cardboard to ensure the unit gets dispatched to you in perfect condition.

In the box, you’ll find all the power cables, a 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable, and a Micro-USB to USB.

The power adaptor has flip-out prongs for US plugs.

Push the prongs down and you can clip on the UK plug, making the unit nice and compact, and travel-friendly.
