Fastest Ivy Bridge to have only a 77W TDP

Speculation with regards to Ivy Bridge is increasing as the launch comes ever closer. The latest speculation shows the road map for Intel’s Ivy Bridge CPUs and gives detailed information on the TDP of all the Ivy Bridge processors. Intel splits their processors up into particular categories as you can see from the plan. The enthusiast i5 and i7 unlocked processors will have a TDP of just 77W so this means the replacement for the 2500K, 2600K and 2700K will all be included there. The power ceiling of the i3 Ivy Bridge processors is just 55W so this range will include some dual core units such as the replacements for the i3 2100. There will also be a 35W Pentium thrown in for good measure, but all Celerons will remain Sandy Bridge.

Intel will also be working hard to ensure it has a power optimised range for all performance levels, which includes a 45W i7, 45W and 35W i5, 35W i3 and 35W Pentium. Although the higher end processors have come down from Sandy Bridge’s 95W maximum the low end does remain relatively unchanged since Sandy Bridge currently offers 35W pieces the only difference we will see with Ivy Bridge will be better performance for the same power bracket.
