It’s official, the Nvidia Titan-Z is ready to hit the market with the force of an atomic bomb, with an equally explosive price tag. The new flagship graphics card from the green team features a dual-GPU design, a pair of GK110 GPUs that have enough grunt to make the Radeon R9 295X2 graphics cores look like they’re made out of Lego.

The pair of 28nm design GK110 graphics core are running at their maximum in the GeForce Titan-Z, with each core featuring all of the 2880 CUDA Cores that the GK110 design can handle, this is backed up by 240 TMUs and 48 EOPS each, with each core wired to a huge 6GB bank of GDDR5 memory and a 384-bit wide memory interface, giving us 12GB of usable VRAM!

Unlike the gigantic design of the Radeon R9 295X2, the Titan-Z is air-cooled, not water-cooled, so the card does have a smaller footprint than its nearest rival. However, you’ll still need plenty of space to fit this card, as it’ll need a triple height bay to install, so no luck for those wanting to install one in a mini-ITX style rig, m-ATX or above need only apply.

Performance on this card is obviously going to be unlike anything else on the consumer market, we fully expect it to be the greatest gaming graphics card money can buy, but Nvidia’s real target here is the professional market. For those involved with rendering and other CUDA intensive applications, the Titan-Z can offer a huge boost to workflow and rendering times, but that won’t stop those with fat wallets from building crazy gaming rigs regardless of the cards true intentions.

The card ships to stores and warehouses on April 29th 2014, expect it to pop up in both highstreet and online retailers immediately after. The price is set at… wait for it…. $2,999 + TAX. My wallet just shriveled up and died.
