Intel Processor with Radeon Graphics Coming This Year

There’s been a little bit of information kicking around since late last year that Intel could licence GPU technology from AMD for their upcoming processors, which would see Intel ditching their own GPU tech in favour for the red team, possibly giving the Intel team a big performance boost for on-board graphics in a wide range of markets.

Now those rumours are heating up even further, with Kyle Benenett of OCP reporting that these new chips could launch this year! It’s believed that the chip would contain an Intel Kable Lake-based die, alongside an AMD Radeon GPU, and that’s a very interesting combination that we’re eager to see become a reality. This could mean that the setup is a Multi-chip Module (MCM), with the GPU and CPU being separate. AMD would supply the dies to Intel, who would then pass that hardware to Intel to add to their chipset, rather than hand over their designs and processes to a major competitor.

It’s most likely this will be a more budget focused product at first, as integrated graphics are rarely targetted at the high-end market, but who knows, if this works out well for both companies and the consumer, we can expect to see the range developed and more products hitting the market.
