Good news for those of you who did not update to Windows 8.1 due to the mouse bug that was floating around, you’ll be happy to know that Microsoft has issued a fix, just as the Redmond company promised it would.

Due to a series of complaints on the Internet, Microsoft acknowledged last week that the Windows 8.1 update could render your mouse unusable in certain games and situations. The issue is related to changes Windows 8.1 makes to mouse input processing for low latency interaction scenarios, as Microsoft states.

Below is a list of games that Microsoft marked as fixed:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops – Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Zombies
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts – Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: MW2 Call of Duty: MW2 – Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: MW3 Call of Duty: MW3 – Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: MW Call of Duty: MW – Multiplayer
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive
  • Counter Strike: Source
  • Deus Ex : Human Revolution
  • Deus Ex : Human Revolution Director’s Cut
  • Hitman Absolution
  • Hitman Sniper Challenge
  • Half Life 2
  • Metro 2033 Portal

Microsoft also includes instructions on how to extend the update to other games if your game is not listed above. You can find the instructions here.
