New Sonic 25th Anniversary Mega Drive Spotted

A listing has appeared for a new plug-and-play mini SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis to our North American readers) which celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog and includes 80 games built-in. The re-release of this classic console comes hot on the heels of Nintendo’s Mini NES console. Unlike Nintendo’s offering, though, this new Mega Drive takes the console’s original game cartridges and features wireless controllers.
The release of the 25th Anniversary Sonic Mega Drive was discovered by redditor no1dead on the Smyths Toys website, which lists the price and release date as £49.99 and October 2016, respectively.
