New Xbox 360 System Update rolls out

Major Nelson has just let us all know that the Xbox team have released a new system update for the Xbox 360 that is floating through the tubes of Xbox LIVE right now. Starting today, when you sign into Xbox LIVE, you’ll be prompted with a screen where you’ll have to accept this mandatory update (if it’s mandatory, why bother asking you to accept it?).

If you’re signed into LIVE, you may be signed out and asked to accept the update, after which you’ll be back online within minutes. The new update is said to increase performance and is part of the Xbox team’s continued effort to provide the best possible Xbox LIVE experience.

This update also fixed a color issue that some users had been experiencing, and will be immediately noticeable on the dashboard. This fix is also being applied by partners to their apps on the Xbox LIVE service, where it should be baked in over the coming months.
