While it may not exactly be the best thing since sliced bread, the new Radeon HD 5670 is in decent supply on most markets already.
It’s core is essentially the same thing you’ve seen in the 5800 series, except it’s been cut down twice leaving only 1/4th of the computational power.
The 5670 features GDDR5 with a 128bit-rate, 512MB-1GB of memory, 400 Stream Processing Units, 20 Texture Units, 8 Raster Operator units, 1x HDMI, DVI, and 1x VGA or Display port. As for the core & memory, it checks in at 775 and 1Ghz respectively. The reference boards manufacturers are selling are using unique heatsink/fan setups, in single or dual slot configuration.
Like the bigger brothers, (or sisters, if you prefer) it has DX11, OpenGL 3.2, bit streaming audio, and can do ATi Eyfinity. However, due to the performance, it’s not recommended to run a game on more than a single monitor.
As for performance & power, it can land anywhere between the 9600GT to a bit below the 4850; for power it will be roughly 15 watts on idle and 60 on load.
Newegg states the price for the majority of 512MB cards to be $99 USD, and the 1GB variant at $115-120. Ebuyer shows a decent price at £70-75 GBP for 512MB and £85-90 for 1GB models, and Alternate.de giving a low price of €80 Euros for 512MB and €100-110 for 1GB.
However, being a good card with great features, AMD’s own HD 4850 competes in that it can claim more performance if at the cost of power, size, and less features.
