Being a tech-savvy computer user in today’s society generally involves reinstalling your own Operating System and / or another persons.
Ok… So I’ve been working with computers ever since I was about 7 years old. I remember the first thing my dad introduced me to was MS-DOS… Ok at 7 years old, let’s be honest, MS-DOS is not that impressive, but that is not why I would spent hours of my time on the computer. I would use MS-DOS to play games on my floppy disks. Yes real floppies that were 5.25″ and could be thrown like a light weight Frisbee. Ok, so I miss those days… Where am I going with this you may ask?… Alright, so one night my dad’s computer got a virus and he had to spend some time reinstalling the MS-DOS operating system. Floppy after floppy after floppy he would have to go through to install this text based operating system that could play my awesome 2D games. The only problem was, after he got done reinstalling MS-DOS, all my save games were gone, nothing was backed up and all the software (games) that I used to have installed were now gone…
Have you ever gone through the above situation after a fresh install of Windows and just wanted an easier solution to multiple installer for things such as Firefox, Opera, Pidgin, i-Tunes, and many of your other software fetishes? Well the other day a friend showed me a link to a much simpler solution. The folks over at http://ninite.com/ have created an installer that runs in a temporary folder that can install a plethora of your favorite programs that make your life not only easier but a whole lot more fun. While all the more merry the application does not install to your hard drive and take up any valuable space whatsoever. It even runs the typical installer settings of all the programs taking out the next, next, finish (OOO!!! My Carpel Tunnel is Acting Up) pains of the install. Enjoy =D
The applications the installer can download and then install are:
