Since the dawning of time, Microsoft has been an innovator which has been a force to be reckoned with, within the geek and nerd society alike. Just like the beginnings of the gasoline powered motor vehicle by Henry Ford in 1908, Microsoft has made many improvements since MS-DOS which was released in 1981. Some of us may even remember having to type out commands to create directories, delete files, and check how many Megabytes of hard drive space we had left. As hard drives once used to be in the form of 5.25″ drives with only Megabytes of storage space to spare. Yet alone, some of us remember arming ourselves with our 5.25″ floppy disks whereas today we would carry around our flash drives on a key ring with over a million times more space on such a tiny device. However you do have to admit for those of us who remember our floppy disks; they were a lot of fun to bend and throw like a Frisbee.

Do you remember back to the days when text was your friend? I hope it still is, considering you are reading this article (otherwise this writer may just have to go on strike). OK I understand, it has been a long time since I’ve last posted an article, but school was kicking my arse therefore my sabbatical was justified. So no using “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” my way or.. Sorry… This isn’t English class… Back to the Article…
CCCX…
To begin with thank you for taking time to read and comment on this article. I don’t really feel that I am necessarily trying to defend Microsoft on this article or advertise for Microsoft. Yes I have written an article on 7, but that does not mean I am advertising and trying to sell Windows 7. I too am not necessarily a proponent of wanting to purchase things or upgrade, but for me and many others Windows 7 is a wonderful OS. I would however like to know where you got your specifications for how much Hard Drive space 7 takes. In fact Vista takes more hard drive space than does Windows 7. If you refer to my first article on this (http://www.eteknix.com/news/windows-7-part-1-microsofts-liberation/3/) you will see that 7 takes significantly less hard drive space. I also don’t feel as if you have actually tried 7 on your own but are just making assumptions based upon Vista of what 7 might be. As you said in the above post “I just don’t think Windows 7 is the real deal.” If you have not tried 7, then why bag on it?
However I will have to agree with you on installing XP in a virtual machine of some sorts. That is the only way to ensure that all of your applications will work if they are dependent upon XP. Once again, thank you for reading and commenting on this article.
Why must you defend and advertise for MS? there is nothing new or worth mentioning in windows 7, it takes up more hard drive space then the previous O/S, its vista rebaged with the fixes that should of been there before they released vista. i dont like or play the upgrade game i want something that works and be done with, i will add or customize the os how i want it. i dont want the ton of baggage that comes with it and surely dont want to pay for an upgrade, it should be free. as for the xp mode you be better off getting virtualbox or vmware to install a virtual xp machine, either way there not the real thing, Windows Xp. i just dont think windows 7 is the real deal.
