Some of Nvidia’s Shield Tablets Are Being Recalled

nvidia shield tablet recall

Nvidia’s Shield Tablet is definitely one of the most powerful Android-based tablets out there, at least as far as the 8-inch niche is concerned. However, it seems that even though the company went to great lengths to create a design that would facilitate optimum heat dissipation during gaming sessions, the device’s battery is not able to handle the extra warmth, which is why it is now considered a fire hazard. What’s worrying about this is not the fact that Nvidia are now recalling certain Shield tablets sold between July 2014 and July 2015 but the fact that they found the fire hazard one year after the product’s launch.

The company has not provided any specific details regarding the overheating issue, but it is “asking consumers to stop using the recalled tablet, except as needed to participate in the recall and back up data.” Basically, if you own a Shield Tablet with a certain battery type, it’s definitely a good idea to swap it for a new one, and just in case you’re finding the process too bothersome, you should know that Nvidia has set up a dedicated website in order to help you out.
