The Synapse comes in a typical slim OCZ SSD packaging, the only difference being the colours and background image. Here the package is themed black and blue and we note to the lower left that the drive comes included with the Dataplex software.

On the back of the box, a blurb on the top of the box gives an insight on the Synapse drives and below what the Synapse actually does in a number of languages.

Bundled in with the drive itself, we find a 2.5″ to 3.5″ bay adaptor and the respective fitting screws, an installation guide and a sticker on the front of the guide with the Dataplex licence key.

As we’ve highlighted on the previous page, the Synapse inside is built ground up, with a SandForce SF-2281 controller and 64GB of MLC flash memory. We will point out that even though this is a 64GB drive, when setup as a cache, the drive will appear as a 32GB drive to the OS due to the over provisioning.

On the back of the drive along side the usual array of bar codes and reference numbers, we find a second copy of the Dataplex licence key, just in case the guide in the box goes astray.
