Using a sound card does make the sound sound more crisper and clearer especially on an eMachine with Intel Chipset. I used to have a Sound Blaster Live Platinum. It had front panel controls and input. It’s good for plugging an electric guitar in and for using for headphone. Back then front panel headphone jacks wasn’t common so the front panels was the way to go. Before that I had a Sound Blaster 16 FM which was included with my 486 computer. Right now I’m also using the integrated and a cheap stereo speaker. I’m on a budget.
