QNAP has upgraded the HybridDesk Station app (HD Station) to version 2.0 and revamped the user interface with a familiar tablet style while also enhancing the security and adding new media and firefox apps.

The new tablet-style user interface provides a quick overview of available apps and it can also be personalized slightly with wallpapers. To improve system security, administrators can now enable user authentication so only authorized users can access data stored on the Turbo NAS via HDMI monitor and not everyone in reach. A great addition.

The popular DeaDBeeF music player and Clementine player for online streaming services have both been added together with the Firefox browser that has hardware accelerated video playback. XMBC has been upgraded to the newest version with HD Player. QNAP’s QvPC Technology that’s also supported is so awesome and allows the NAS to be used as a normal PC and run multiple applications on the HD station by simply connecting an HDMI display, a keyboard, and a mouse.
