Today we are looking at the HIS Radeon HD 4830 512MB Graphics Card. This is a budget to mid range card from AMD delivering good performance in some of the latest games. HIS aren’t heard from very much in the UK, but they offer good value for money, decent cooling, and a good warranty.

If you’re looking for a budget to mid-range card, then the 4830 is worth considering, though you will have to bare in mind, that HIS isn’t the most heard of manufacturer around, especially in the UK, only being able to find one online retailer stocking this particular card. Price is also a factor with this card, at just over £100, the price is a lot higher than the card’s status of a low end to mid-range card. Overall, the benchmarks are quite impressive for the card, but the price and lack of availability will put me off buying this particular card. For around the same money you could purchase a 4850 from a more well known brand such as Sapphire, but it’s all down to personal preference, and what you want from a graphics card. All of these reasons helped me to come to a conclusion, and that’s why i’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars.

NICE REVIEW!
Dehx your comments on this review are rather irrational, there is no rule saying a review has to be done before or as soon as an item of hardware if released.
On graphics cards the initial release drivers can sometimes be somewhat poor and the card does not get used to its full potential until months down the line after a handful of driver updates.
Yes it would be stupid if Andy reviewed a card that was no longer available to purchase…but there are still XFX, Sapphire, Asus & MSI models of the card still available to purchase here in the UK.
Even though the HIS version is quite rare, it is a HD4830 none the less, which plenty of us could buy today and be using tomorrow.
Not everyone upgrades their graphics card to the latest available.
For example if someone was running on a HD3870 or lower, then an upgrade to a HD4830 would be a more than adequate performance improvement, and would be much much cheaper than the latest 5850 @ £200 or 5870 @ £300, as you can pick up HD4830s from £75+.
Please try to keep an open mind, these reviews are not made to suit the individual, more so the majority.
After all, we still have the recession to deal with in the UK.
It is still a very current card, the dx11 cards are only just on the horizon and are currently being released. Some people can’t afford the price of them, so would obviously have to get an older generation card. This card is still available to buy, so people will still buy it, thats why we reviewed it.
