Samsung Galaxy S IV rumors are here, could be announced at MWC in February 2013

Samsung aren’t letting the news of the iPhone 5 launch slow them down, with rumors that the Galaxy S IV would be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2013. The Korea Times are reporting on it, so it at least has some weight to it, but the new phone would continue the same design as the S III, but we could see a screen size bump.

The current Galaxy S III sports a 4.8-inch screen, with rumors pegging the new S IV to sport a 5-inch screen. There’s also some other juicy teases, where we might see Samsung put their flexible screen technology to use, which would really set tongues wagging.

The Galaxy S III was announced at this years MWC, so it would make sense to announce its follow-up early next year. Samsung have also reduced their sales expectations of the Galaxy S III to just 30 million by years end. Considering the South Korean company sold 20 million of the S III’s in just 100 days, the fierce competition of the iPhone 5 will definitely take the wind out of their sails.

Samsung’s Galaxy S IV would also feature 4G LTE that would work across any of the world’s LTE networks, and would sport a quad-core Exynos processor. I’m hoping we see 2GB of RAM in it, and at least Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, if Key Lime Pie isn’t announced or released at around the same time as MWC 2013.

Samsung will use their time frame to push their phone as it is six months away from Apple’s iPhone 5 launch, and around six months away from any next-gen iPhone announcement. Isn’t it sad, we’re already talking about next-gen iPhone’s, when the iPhone 5 isn’t even here yet? How exciting is the smart device world these days? Fight Samsung and Apple, fight for our money.
