TRENDNet introduces its TU-S9 USB to Serial converter

TRENDNet has introduced not a first, but its own USB to Serial converter with the TU-S9.

Due to the legacy interfaces such as RS-232 serial having become obsolete and clearly phased out of PC motherboard standards, those who still require the interface find themselves in a troublesome situation. Thanks to this device, people who still use the serial interface for connecting MODEMs, telecom equipment, robotics and other can now use their devices as a USB connection thanks to the TU-S9.

There is no real fancy buttons or lighting, this is just an adapter cable with a USB connector on one side and a RS-232 9-pin male connector on the other. It may not be the nicest accessory on the market, but it does what it’s supposed to do. The cable length provided is of roughly 7 cm.

The operating systems supported are Windows, from 98 to 7, as well as Mac OS X, from 10.1 to 10.6. Now available, the TU-S9 is priced at $12.99.
