Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's Account Was Hacked

There have been quite a few high-profile hacks lately, all of which targeted the social media accounts of the world’s most influential people, as least as far as the tech industry is concerned. Mark ZuckerbergBrendan Iribe, and now even Twitter’s own Jack Dorsey have had their accounts compromised, and it looks like the group behind these attacks is named OurMine. The group actually took responsibility for Dorsey’s hack, as they posted a series of benign video clips as well as a tweet that surfaced at 2:50AM ET that said: “Hey, its OurMine,we are testing your security.” Actually, all of the OurMine messages posted on Dorsey’s account came from Vine, but it looks like they were all removed quickly.

It’s entirely possible that Twitter’ CEO used an old or a shared password on both Twitter and Vine, which could have helped the hackers in their endeavor. No matter how they managed to achieve their goal, hacking Twitter accounts belonging to celebrities has been on the rise lately, with Deray Mckesson and even Katy Perry falling victim to them. If you are concerned about your own account, it’s always a good idea to use a unique password for every site, and there are quite a few services out there that could help make this process easier.
