The ZM-NC3500 Plus is a very well packaged product. It comes in a strong cardboard box fitted with a carry handle for easy transportation. The front of the box calls out important features – but as you can see the overwhelming focus is on the integrated sound. Whilst other features like the USB hub, notebook support and fan size only get a smaller mention.

The back of the box gives more in depth pictures on the main features of the product plus some specifications which if you can’t read you should check back on the first page for those. The ZM-NC3500 Plus claims to offer sound which is targeted towards your ears unlike in typical notebooks where it claims sound is lost as it moves parallel to your ears.

The ZM-NC3500 Plus was wrapped in protective plastic and held sturdy inside the box with hard cell foam. It is very unlikely this product would get damaged in transit unless dropped several times.

The ZM-NC 3500 Plus has very little included with it. As standard you get a micro-USB 2.0 to dual full sized USB 2.0 cable. This delivers power to the fan from a notebook and transmits data for the 4 port USB hub and USB sound system. The micro-USB 2.0 end is connected into the notebook cooler not your notebook – meaning you need one or two free USB ports which should be adequately spaced if you intend to plug both connectors in.

A user’s manual is also included as standard, which has useful safety precautions, set up instructions, specifications and diagrams. The pictured DC in 5v and 2 amp power adaptor is an optional extra, but is needed to make sure you can use all the USB ports without power shortages. We find it most unhelpful that Zalman wouldn’t include this as standard as it adds unnecessary cost and hassle to the product. Its also worth noting for UK customers that the dual pin plug means you’d need another adapter to plug it into the mains.
