007 First Light No Longer Uses Denuvo as IO Interactive Releases New Update
Like many PC games released today, 007 First Light launched with Denuvo anti-tamper protection, a technology designed to help prevent piracy during the game’s launch period.
However, IO Interactive has now removed Denuvo from the PC version of 007 First Light, around two months after the game’s release.
Denuvo is widely used to stop games from being pirated during the first weeks or months after launch, when sales are at their highest. While it cannot protect a game forever, publishers often consider this limited period enough to achieve its purpose.

The technology has also been heavily criticized by many players, who claim it can reduce game performance without offering any benefits to legitimate customers. Because of this, its removal is likely to be welcomed by part of the community.
The change comes as part of update 1.1.0, which also includes several bug fixes and gameplay improvements. However, the update does not add the previously promised Path Tracing effects, and IO Interactive has not announced a release date for that feature yet.
Instead, the update introduces two new TacSim missions along with new TacSim rewards, including a suppressor and a new outfit.
In other 007 First Light news, early sales figures show that the game has reached nearly 3 million copies sold. However, it has not yet become truly profitable because its development cost was very high, estimated at around $200 million.
