1More Stylish True Wireless You can keep your Apple Air Pods, albeit because I'm an Android user and they're all but useless to me. The headphones I've been waiting on are the 1More Stylish True Wireless. No, that's not me saying they're stylish as such, but their part of the "Stylish" product range from the 1More catalogue. I actually got hands-on with these back at CES 2019 but didn't have a chance to really put them through their paces. Of course, the product is ready for retail now, and I've had the last week to play around with them in my daily life. They're certainly well equipped, although we wouldn't expect anything less, given how great 1More products have proven to be in the past. You'll find powerful 7mm Titanium Composite Dynamic Drivers for great sound quality. Of course, that's backed up with an ENC microphone, LDS antenna, Bluetooth pairing, adjustable ergonomics and much more. Specifications The specifications stack up well here too, with a fairly fast charging time for both the headphones themselves, and the charging case. Playtime is obviously not huge, but keep in mind, those headphones can only hold tiny batteries. Of course, you can charge on the go with the box. More on that in a moment. It ticks all the other boxes though for lag-free high-quality Bluetooth connections, so you should be able to enjoy your music and calls easily enough. Packaging and Accessories The box, as is typical of 1More products, is perfectly designed. It features a clear photo on the front of the headphones, as well as a few key features listed in the corner. Around the back, a few icons showing Bluetooth, battery life, etc, but otherwise it's all just a multi-language breakdown of the same details. The box opens out, where you'll find some stylish technical drawings that show off various design aspects of the headphones and the charging dock. There's also a clear cover so you can get a sneaky look at the product too. The box is rammed full of goodies too. On the left, a pile of all the usual documentation and even a funky 1More sticker. There are two bags, which contain additional rubber ear mounts, as not everyone has the same size ears, so these will be very handy. There's a flat-style USB charging cable for the dock, and a protective carry bag too. A Closer Look Since these are wireless in-ear headphones, they obviously are quite compact units. Which is impressive, as each ear bud needs to contain their own drivers, batteries, wireless device, etc. They're not as slender as say, Apple Air Pods, but they're hardly cumbersome either. They also come with an egg-like dock that features a built-in battery of its own to charge the headphones while you're not using them. Of course, it also acts as a protective carry case so you don't loose or damage them. Dock-To-Go This little dock is really pretty neat. Again, I can draw a comparison to the Apple Air Pods, in that it does the same charging and storing functionality as the Apple product. However, I do like this more rounded design, as it sits quite comfortably in your hand, your pocket, your bag On one side, it has a small push release button to pop open the lid, as well as a tiny LED for charging notifications. Interior It's a really neat design, where you can very easily drop in the headphones and they magnetically lock into place. It looks like it'll be an awkward fit, but they really do drop in snugly with ease. As Ace Ventura would say "LIKE A GLOVE!" There are two pins in here, which allow the headphones to charge with ease. No mucking about with tiny cables or anything, which is obviously a relief. Docked The headphones sit in there nicely, and with the lid shut, are held firmly in place to prevent them moving, getting scratch or damaged. Once docked, the headphones LEDs light up red to show they are charging and this will change to blue once complete. The light also turns blue once they're removed, showing they're ready for use or connected via Bluetooth. It'll also flash red/blue really fast if it's in pairing or searching mode. What's neat is that if you push them down while they're in the dock, you'll hear them give a voice readout of their charging status. This is great as you don't have to remove them to check. Either way, they're dock, they're charged, and they're ready to rock. The Headphones The design is superb, and pretty much as you would expect from any other high-end in-ear headphone. Of course, there are no cables, but I don't think the earbuds feel any bigger than you would get from a set of high-end 1More headphones. Instead of fitting them with some crazy quad-driver configuration though, they've used the space for the power and connectivity hardware, which is great. They come fitted with a set of silicone earbuds that have an inner hook to hold them in your ear. You get a couple of sets included, so if they don't fit just right, you can adjust each one to suit your needs. Packing their custom 7mm dynamic driver, the headphones promise "powerful bass and exquisite detail" and given 1More's solid track record, I've no reason to doubt that. Of course, I'll be testing it in a moment too. Each headphone weights just 6.2 grams too, so they're hardly going to feel like lead weights. This is most impressive given just how much hardware is packed into ear one. Of course, the size does limit the battery to just 55mAh per headphone. This should equate to up to 2.5 hours of music or talk time at 50% volume. Finally, down the side of each you'll find a single button. One deals with play/pause commands, while the other can be used to trigger your assistant, such as Google Now. Performance Charging up the headphones doesn't take long at all. From completely flat, they'll take just 70 minutes. However, it's unlikely you'll run them flat, and if you put them on from "low battery" warning time, then they'll often be fully charged in about 45 minutes. Now, that battery life isn't going to cut it for a 10-hour flight to New York. However, for your morning commute on the train or bus, or even the time it takes you to go for a run, it's more than up to the task. Then by the time you're heading out again, they'll be recharged anyway. Compact They're really compact and surprisingly lightweight, so for those travelling with them, you'll find them pretty easy to manage. Even with the dock, the whole setup is just 52.8g, so it's hardly going to weigh your bag down either. You don't need to travel with the dock every time you wear them. However, it is 100% needed to charge the headphones either at home or on the go. By doing so, you can get up to 7.5 hours usage out of the headphones though, so it's worth taking it with you. Plus, if you bloody hate wires that tangle, there's an obvious benefit here too. Powerful Despite being much less tricked out than some of the other 1More drivers, the Wireless really do pack an impressive acoustic punch. The sound is quite nicely balanced in the midrange and treble. It's got a bit of a thump on the low end though, which is surprisingly impressive. I like my music to have a punchy low-end, so I'm very happy with the big sound these deliver. It's not over-driven bass either like some cheap headphones, there's just a wealth of low-end response that you would typically find in larger drivers. This has a lot to do with how much noise the drivers suppress. Putting them in your ears is like wearing quality ear plugs, you can't hear a damn thing with these in! Stylish They fit in your ears pretty nicely. Unfortunately, with a name like "Stylish" they're everything I'm not. That being said, I do look at least a little bit cooler with these headphones in, or at least I'll tell myself that every morning when I look in the mirror. How Much Does it Cost? The 1More Stylish True Wireless headphones are available from today with a retail price of £89.99. They're also available on their US Store for just $99. That's pretty good value given the Apple alternatives are double the price. There are cheaper brands out there still, but 1More make premium headphones with premium quality, and I think they're fantastic value overall. Overview Time and time again, I've tested 1More headphones that impress me. The new wireless models certainly live up to the high standards we've come to expect from 1More too, and cutting the cables really makes these some of the most versatile headphones I've ever owned. They're not without their drawbacks, but they're an elegant solution that's sure to appeal to a lot of people. Talk Time At 2.5 hours usage at 50% volume, using them when you're out and about is very much possible. Of course, in the real world, I got closer to two hours, but I tend to have them quite loud for music anyway. That being said, I rarely need them for more than an hour between charges. If I'm out for a run, or just making a shorter train journey, the battery life is spot on. Plus, with the charging dock, it doesn't take long to get them back up to 100% and ready for the return journey. However, for a long haul flight, they're not going to do the job, but for those journeys, I use my noise cancelling over-ear headphones anyway. Stylish Not only are these beautifully made, they also look truly stylish too. Flexing your favourite brand is important to some people, and 1More have that premium status that you're hardly going to feel unfashionable while wearing them. I don't care what people think, personally, but I know others do. Either way, I think they look fantastic and you'll no doubt be asked where you got them when people both see them and try them out. The build quality is premium throughout, and we wouldn't have expected anything less. Stylish they may be, but 1More put their primary focus on build quality and performance above all else. The charging dock and the headphones feel fantastic, and the way everything fits together and functions have been very well thought out. Should I Buy Them? Again, they're not something everyone needs. However, if you're tired of those pesky cables getting in the way of your entertainment, they're a huge step up. They're a far cry from the retched Bluetooth hands-free earworms from years ago. Great sound quality, perfect for listening to music on the go and making calls.
