The RTX 4090 ASUS ROG Matrix has successfully surpassed the 4000MHz threshold by enthusiast and overclocker Splave.
The ROG Matrix 4090 is an AIO card released last month which features highly binned chips to achieve the highest performance out of RTX 4090 chips. This card has been used by overclocker Splave to achieve a major breakthrough in the form of breaking the 4000 MHz barrier and achieving a 4005 MHz overclock that was posted onto HWBOT using the GPUPI benchmark which uses GPUs to calculate the number Pi. This overclock wasn’t achieved via the included Matrix AIO but instead was done using liquid nitrogen, a popular choice in reaching these high clock speeds which in turn leads to-34.6C degree temperatures despite this insanely high clock speed. It’s a lot of hard work and patience to reach these scores but I can only imagine the feeling of actually achieving it.
The system used to achieve this overclock was an Intel Core i9 13900K on an ASRock Z690 Aqua motherboard with 32GB of G-Skill DDR5-7800. My next question is how much power did this use. For reference, the Colorful 4090 iGame LAB claimed 3.975 GHz just yesterday by overclocker Cens as shared by VideoCardz and that GPU reached a whopping 1127W at its peak so thats the rough ballpark for this.
This is an impressive feat and for those that say something along the lines of ‘what’s the point?’ You’re boring, shut up.
