A Free Xbox Cloud Gaming Subscription With Ads Could Be Coming Soon

According to journalist Tom Warren from The Verge, Microsoft may soon introduce a free version of Xbox Cloud Gaming that includes advertisements. Given Warren’s reliable track record, this information seems credible and worth taking seriously.

This idea has been circulating for some time, and with Microsoft’s recent expansion of its cloud gaming platform, it’s becoming increasingly likely. Considering the current state of the streaming market and technology, such a move seems both logical and timely.

Despite having a solid technological foundation, Xbox Cloud Gaming has remained in beta for years. The service is still developing, but Microsoft appears ready to take another significant step forward.

With recent changes to the Game Pass lineup, cloud gaming is now available to all Game Pass subscribers, though Ultimate members still receive higher-quality streaming priority. Microsoft’s ongoing improvements show a clear intent to make cloud gaming more accessible and stable for everyone.

Additionally, Xbox Cloud Gaming is expanding its reach. It was recently announced for Hisense and TCL smart TVs, following earlier launches on LG and Samsung televisions. This wider hardware availability helps strengthen the ecosystem and attract more users.

Back in October, there were already reports that a free, ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming was nearly ready for release. Combined with the platform’s 45% growth in usage among Game Pass subscribers, the launch of this new tier may be very close.
