Activision Announces Free Week for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Ahead of Battlefield 6 Release
Even though Black Ops 7 is on the way, the “old” Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is far from dead. Activision is still supporting the game and has announced a new free trial version available starting October 9, just one day before EA’s Battlefield 6, which launches on October 10.
The free trial will last for a week, ending on October 16. During this time, players can enjoy the campaign, multiplayer mode, and Zombies mode, as well as explore new Halloween-themed content from The Haunting event. October 9 also marks the start of Season 6 for both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Why the Free Trial Launches Before Battlefield 6
It’s quite common for Activision to release a free trial when a new season begins. The company likes to give players a taste of new content, encouraging them to buy the full game or subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate to access everything.
The fact that the Black Ops 6 trial arrives right before Battlefield 6 seems to be a coincidence. However, this timing definitely benefits Activision, as it might attract players who are still unsure which first-person shooter to buy this season.
In other news, Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra claims Battlefield 6 will “boot stomp” Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, arguing the rivalry will push both franchises to deliver better FPS experiences and end CoD’s years of decline.
