Activision Responds to Call of Duty: Zombie Stand-Alone Reports
Is there a stand-alone Call of Duty: Zombie game on the way? While major publishers usually avoid commenting on rumors, Activision chose to address the speculation directly this time.
“The rumor factory working overtime. This ain’t it,” reads a post published by the official Call of Duty profile in response to articles that reported the claims. With this short statement, Activision clearly denied the existence of such a project, putting an end to the circulating reports.
The company likely stepped in because the rumors were spreading quickly across the large and loyal Call of Duty community. Given how fast the discussion was growing, a direct response became necessary.
Activision Shuts Down the Zombie Spin-Off Rumor
Activision’s brief but firm reply was also important for another reason. The publisher may have wanted to avoid distracting players from the current strong performance of Black Ops 7, which ranked first in U.S. sales charts in December and January.
By addressing the situation promptly, Activision ensured that attention remains on its current releases rather than on unconfirmed projects. As things stand, there are no plans for a stand-alone Call of Duty: Zombie game.
The recent rumors did not focus only on a stand-alone Call of Duty: Zombie title. They also suggested that Modern Warfare 4 could be a launch game for the next Xbox console. On this specific claim, however, Activision decided not to comment.
Even so, the publisher’s denial did not fully satisfy some fans, many of whom were hoping the rumors were true. If interest in the idea continues to grow, it would not be surprising if Activision considers the concept in the future.
