Adobe is taking a thinly veiled jab at Apple by introducing a switching programme for Premiere Pro 5.5 and Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium, by offering money off its applications for those who have already purchased its rival’s.
The discount gives 50% off either of Adobe’s programs, which interestingly for CS5 is a saving of nearly £350 which is a lot more than the cost of Final Cut Pro X for instance.
“We’re hearing from video professionals that they want pro level tools that address cutting edge work but also allow them to use legacy footage and workflows,” said Jim Guerard, general manager and vice resident of professional video and audio, Adobe. “At Adobe we’ve been in the trenches with video pros for ears and with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS5.5 Production Premium we’ve delivered professional-grade tools that are already being battle-tested by some of the most innovative filmmakers, broadcasters and video pros.”
A dedicated website has been set-up to help convince users of Adobe’s rival tools to make the switch. It lists many reasons why Adobe believes you should be using its tools, including videos and articles detailing the difference between Adobe’s and the rivals programs. As well as a guide to using Premiere designed for previous users of Final Cut Pro.
The discount is running till 30 September this year, giving you plenty of time to take advantage of this offer. By then, we are sure Final Cut Pro X will be even better as Apple are currently addressing a number of complaints. That said, Adobe still has a lot to do to tempt professionals away from their beloved Mac’s.
