Adult Website Reports Massive Downturn In Traffic During Overwatch League Streaming

Overwatch League and the Curious Adult Website Figures

Overwatch League launched last week and so far it has been a massive success. Not just for Overwatch and Blizzard, but for Twitch as well.

During its first event, Twitch reported that Overwatch League had received over 10 unique million viewers averaging traffic of over 400,000 for each minute.

Quite impressive considering that Blizzard and Twitch didn’t even reach a deal over the streaming rights until the day before it started.

So, while viewing figures for Twitch and Overwatch League might have been good, it seems that their success led other websites to feel the pinch.

In a report via PCGamesN, during the live streaming of the event, popular adult website YouPorn reported a significant dip in its traffic figures. A dip so severe that it might even cause Winston to drop his banana.

It’s just a coincidence!

Figures released by the adult website show that in the hour leading up to the event, traffic figures dramatically dropped. At the exact time the first round started, their traffic was down 9% from average.

The figures also show definitive peaks and troughs through the rounds starting and ending. It might all just be a coincidence and circumstantial evidence, but it seems that a portion of the Overwatch fan base might have just let on what their other hobbies and interests are.

The adult website does draw a direct comparison but doesn’t mind too much. In a statement, it has said: “Since Overwatch first came out in 2016, it has consistently been one of the top twenty most popular term searches on our site.”

In what then becomes a mildly disconcerting point, they went on to say: “Of course, we are also curious to see how you celebrate and will be keeping an eye on visits to the site before, during and after.”

At the risk of going too far, we’ll leave it there. Rest assured such comments do put a fresh perspective on some of the occasional graphical glitches.
