AKRacing Core Series EX Gaming Chair Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The full range of the EX Gaming Chair (regardless of colour) is set at an MSRP price of £279.00. During the current Black Friday sales though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see if you could maybe catch this at a lower price. Regardless of if you can’t though, this chair still reflects excellent value even at its base price.

It is our understanding that this chair is currently available in many Black Friday sales in the UK. We understand it is currently just £199.99 via Scan, Box and Ebuyer so be sure to check them out.

Overview

I must confess that while I own a gaming chair, I’m not the best for sitting in a good position. You see, I am a habitual percher and tend to sit on the last 6 inches of the chair. This is perhaps, in no small part, due to the fact that my dog likes to climb in behind me. With the EX Gaming Chair though, I was surprised to find that I was actually sitting fully in it. It was both comfortable and seemed to encourage me to use it to it’s fullest potential.

I personally preferred to use it without the cushions (which are a little stiff), but even then, it was a remarkably nice place to sit. If I had to make any criticisms these would be very minor aesthetic factors. For example, the chair is all cloth (no leather) and the armrests are all plastic (no padding). These are, however, minor factors that based on the overall excellent design quality, I’m willing to forgive and actually forget.

Overall, the EX Gaming Chair feels like a much higher quality chair than the price would suggest. How can you possibly grumble at that?

Pros

  • Excellent build quality.
  • A range of colours to suit any situation.
  • Firm yet comfortable padding.
  • 3D adjustment armrests.
  • Tilt lock with a nice solid control handle.
  • Lumbar and head cushions included.
  • Colour matched stitching and base inserts.
  • An excellent option based on the pricing.
  • Both looks and feels like a quality product.

Cons

  • The fabric used is a bit of a lint magnet. If you’re fastidiously fussy about cleanliness, this might be a factor to consider. In other words, while it might tempt your dog to take a nap on it, the fabric will give added meaning to the word FURniture.

Neutral

  • While the tilt angle is good, it doesn’t go as far back as many other chairs can.
  • The armrests are not padded. A minor factor, but one worth noting.
