Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora 240 Digital RGB AIO Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

With an MSRP of £120, this is (if we’re being honest) rather a lot of money for a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. You do, however, have a number of factors to consider. Firstly, I can’t think of any of the alternatives that are anywhere near as well designed and engineered as this one. Secondly, none of them, even with their own respective RGB lighting, can hold a candle to this design. Thirdly, the Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora can be incorporated into a custom-loop system.

When you take all of that into consideration, the price seems more than reasonable to us!

Functionality and Ease of Use

In terms of a 240mm cooler, it’s hard to fault. It performs every bit as good as it looks. A factor that was clearly proven in our tests. Admittedly, however, there are two rather notable issues with the design.

Firstly, those fans are on the noisy side. Not obnoxiously so, but at 100% load, they are more than a little audible. Secondly, it’s not the easiest cooler to install. Not only in terms of the mounting system but also the length of the tubes which, in my opinion, would ideally have been another 1-2 inches longer. Yes, you (in theory) should only ever have to do this once, but in a confined chassis, I expect a few four-letter words will pass your lips.

These are, however, in the grand scheme of things, minor annoyances. It shouldn’t take anything away from the fact that this is a truly excellent AIO liquid cooler.

Should I Buy One?

Although (to my knowledge) Alphacool isn’t necessarily marketing it specifically towards the market, I could see the Eisbaer Aurora being a great addition to any custom loop cooling system.

You don’t have a custom loop system? No problem! This cooler runs perfectly happily as an independent 240mm AIO without skipping a beat! Better still, with this cooler, it’s always an option for you to consider in the future.

Taking the performance, aesthetics and top-notch design, the Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora is an amazing AIO liquid cooler and it could quite possibly represent the crown jewel of your CPU cooling requirements!

Pros

  • Fantastic design
  • Some of the best RGB effects I’ve ever seen on an AIO liquid cooler
  • Exceptionally strong levels of CPU temperature control
  • Top-notch design with the copper radiator being particularly noteworthy

Cons

  • Awkward mounting system

Neutral

  • Fans can get a little noisy to keep those temperatures down
  • The hoses could afford to be a little bit longer
