Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme 280mm AIO Liquid Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Retailing for a price in the region of £220 ($283) this is certainly not an inexpensive AIO liquid cooling solution. They do, however, say that performance (nearly) always comes at a price and in that regard, the Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme is no exception.

The ‘out of the box’ performance, however, is simply the tip of the iceberg for the potential of this cooler. If you take your overclocking seriously, then you need a serious cooling solution and, in that regard, this is, without a doubt, one of the best options around at the moment.

Yes, the price might put off the casual PC owner, but I truly don’t believe that this has been designed with them in mind.

Overview

In terms of aesthetics, there isn’t much to get you excited. There is no RGB lighting, flashing lights, LED displays. This cooler is all about doing its job and boy does it impress in that regard.

The entire design of the cooler looks practically bullet-proof and although that is admittedly an often overused hyperbolic statement, in this case, it’s a fact.

One of the biggest key features of the Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme, however, lies in not what comes out of the box, but the potential this has for something looking to make this the key part of a much greater cooling solution.

Is This The Best AIO Liquid Cooler?

It’s rather a bold question isn’t it and I suppose the answer lies in what you require for your system. If you’re simply looking for a straight-up AIO liquid cooler, then the price possibly tips this a little too off the scales for most consumers. There are, after all, plenty of relatively less-expensive options out there that do a perfectly fine job.

The value in the Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme, however, lies entirely in it’s potential. If you take your overclocking seriously, you’re going to want a serious cooling solution.

As seen in our testing, this absolutely blew most of the competition away in it’s out of the box performance. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme, however, is what further performance could be gained from it in the hands of an experienced PC owner looking to make this form the central hub of their full-cooling solution. In that regard, the possibilities are truly remarkable!

Pros

  • Simply amazing performance
  • Fantastic options for custom cooling to take this to a whole other level!
  • Unquestionable levels of quality in the design and build
  • Without a doubt, one of the best AIO liquid coolers currently on the market.

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Not much going for it in terms of the more ‘razzle-dazzle’ aesthetics.
  • A price point that will unfortunately likely prove just a bit too much for the ‘casual’ PC owner.
