Digitimes reports that Amazon is gearing up for a busy October and November. Amazon has asked its Taiwanese Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to ship one million 7 inch Kindle Fire HD tablets each month in October and November to meet expected demand in the run up to the Christmas period.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 inch tablet has been unveiled since late September last year and Amazon recently slashed prices to help it sell – currently the 8GB version costs just $139 USD and the 16GB version costs just $169 USD. Amazon expects to see very high demand and sales thanks to its competitive pricing which is subsidised by its content plans. No doubt Amazon will need to ramp up production again in time for December’s festive season rush.
