Amazon Starts Reserving Some RTX 50 and Radeon RX 9000 for Prime Members
Amazon has begun offering exclusive reservations for certain RTX 50 and Radeon RX 9000 graphics card models, but only for Prime members. This move is seen as a strategy to encourage more Prime subscriptions and potentially stop scalpers—those who buy high-demand items in bulk to resell them at much higher prices. Scalping has been a problem with the release of new gaming consoles and GPUs.
Specific Graphics Cards Reserved for Prime Members

While this initiative does not affect all the available video cards in Amazon’s store, several RTX 50 and Radeon RX 9000 models are being set aside for Prime members. Some of the models available for reservation include the ASUS RTX 5070 TUF Gaming and the XFX Radeon RX 9070 Mercury. These graphics cards are not the only ones impacted, as some pre-built PCs featuring the RTX 50 and RX 9000 series have also been spotted with these exclusive reservations.
The Prime Advantage
The measure seems to be primarily aimed at protecting Prime members, offering them a more reliable chance to purchase these high-demand products. However, it is not a full solution to the scalper problem, as it only applies to a few selected models. People who already have a Prime membership and browse the site while logged in likely won’t notice the difference, as the reservation system only shows up for non-members.
