AMD Accused of Rushing 7900 XTX to Market As Users Report Wildly Differing Performance

When it comes to processors, it’s generally understood among the community that outside the remits of pre-binned samples, not all CPUs are created equally. For graphics cards though, this distinction is a little more benign with most designs tending to fairly solidly adhere to their specifications. – Following a growing number of Twitter posts, however, AMD is being accused (by some users at least) of rushing the 7900 XTX to market with various reports of the GPU providing wildly different levels of performance.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX

Whether this is an issue with the graphics card itself or the drivers is currently unclear. A growing number of users, however, are reporting that depending on exactly what game they’re playing (or more accurately testing I guess), the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX (including both reference and custom models) seems to produce wildly differing clock speeds.

This would, of course, suggest that the issue is likely driver-related. And, let’s face it, AMD doesn’t exactly have the best reputation when it comes to this particular area. – Alternative, it might be some kind of weird quirk within the VBIOS settings. If nothing else though, the huge disparity seen in boost clock speeds is certainly an interesting talking point which, at least at the time of writing, Team Red has not yet responded to.

What Do We Think?

In so far as we could tell in our testing, we didn’t note any particular issue in regards to differing gaming clock speeds in benchmarks. Then again, this isn’t something you tend to overly scrutinise with a greater emphasis typically placed on, you know, what the actual final result it. – Based on this news, however, we will be looking into this and will give you an update as soon as possible.

What do you think? – Let us know in the comments!
