AMD FSR 4.1 Will Arrive on RDNA 3 GPUs in July and RDNA 2 in 2027
A few weeks ago, AMD officially confirmed that it was working on bringing FSR 4.1 support to RDNA 3 graphics cards. The company’s image upscaling technology will be available for RX 7000 GPUs during July, but it will also come to RDNA 2 models later on.
During Computex 2026, AMD once again confirmed that FSR 4.1 will arrive for the RX 7000 series next month. While the company did not provide an exact release date, we now know that this version will no longer be limited to AMD’s newest generation of graphics cards.
AMD Brings FSR 4.1 to RX 7000 Next Month, RX 6000 to Follow in 2027
The bigger surprise was the announcement for the RX 6000 series. Graphics cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture will also receive support for AMD FSR 4.1. AMD did not share a specific date, but said the technology is expected to arrive in “early 2027”.
AMD also highlighted how much its upscaling technology has improved. Before version 4.1, the gap between FSR and NVIDIA‘s DLSS was very large. However, AMD says the quality of FSR has improved significantly, partly thanks to its collaboration with Sony and the development work done on PSSR.
The company also pointed to the growing number of supported games. At launch in the first quarter of 2025, only 30 games supported FSR 4. Today, more than 300 games are compatible with FSR 4.1.
One recent example is Crimson Desert, one of the most talked-about games of the year. According to AMD, FSR not only delivers up to twice the performance compared to native rendering, but also provides a noticeable improvement in image quality.
