Fury X 1

We have long heard rumours and seen leaks about AMD’s upcoming graphics cards. Some have filled us with excitement while other ones were bitter disappointments. We already know that the AMD Radeon R9 390 and 390X cards will be slightly optimized rebrands with more VRAM and we also knew that there was a new flagship on the way outside of the normal number system, much like Nvidia does with their Titan.

We’ve heard the name Fury, but it wasn’t hundred percent clear whether this was a codename or the actual product name. New slides leaked by HWBattle and brought to us by WCCFtech now confirm this. the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card is a thing and it “is revolutionary inside – and out.” [sic].

The Fiji GPU core which is the first to utilize high-bandwidth memory and is the physically biggest chip AMD has produced. It does however already pack the memory onboard, eliminating the need for extra space on the PCB . The Fiji GPU core has 64 Compute Units, each featuring 64 stream processors for 4096 stream cores, 128 raster operation units, and 256 texture mapping units.

The card only comes with 4 GB memory, but it is HBM memory that operates on the 4096-bit interface, is clocked at 500 MHz, and pumps out 512 GB/s bandwidth. The core clock is 1050 MHz on the reference design and the card can perform a total of 8.6 TFlops of FP32 compute performance.

A good 4K experience should be guaranteed with that and VR fans get an added bonus in the form of AMD LiquidVR that is said to give the best VR experience.

Most of this was already leaked before, but now we have it from official slides. It’s always great with confirmation and now we just need to wait for the release in a couple of days.
