AMD GPUs Will Increase in Price by at Least 10%
AMD graphics cards are set to increase in price by at least 10%, according to several sources. If you’re thinking about buying one, now might be the best time to do it — prices are expected to rise in just a few weeks.
First, Board Channels reported the news, followed by a representative from PowerColor, and now UDN has confirmed it. The warning comes from Taiwan, so delaying your purchase could be a bad short-term decision.
Reason Behind the AMD GPU Price Increase
The main reason for the increase is the rising cost of memory, which affects the VRAM used in graphics cards. Several industry sources have confirmed this, but UDN adds that: AMD has informed its partners of a second price increase across its entire product line. The increase is estimated to be at least 10%.
This price hike will not only affect Radeon RX 7000 and 9000 series cards, but also any products that include both a GPU and memory. This includes the Ryzen Z1 and Z2 chips, Xbox and PS5 consoles, and laptop processors with integrated GPUs (APUs) — a rather serious situation.
Impact on the Market and Other Brands
AMD is facing a challenge: the company has struggled to maintain the suggested retail price for its RX 9070 XT, even though it encouraged partners to lower prices. We had to wait until Black Friday to see the Navi 48 XT drop to its originally announced price.
As expected, NVIDIA is also likely to raise prices to protect its profit margins, although this information has not been confirmed. Reports suggest that NVIDIA delayed the launch of its RTX 50 SUPER series due to the increased cost of GDDR7 3 GB memory modules, which is an unusual situation.
In short, prices will rise for AMD Radeon graphics cards as well as any bundles or systems that include GPUs or iGPUs with VRAM.
