AMD Introduces Radeon Pro Duo Professional Graphics Card

AMD has released a new version of the Radeon Pro Duo graphics card that is not designed for gaming, but specifically to target professionals. The Radeon Pro Duo enables professionals to tap into the parallel computing power of modern GPUs and multi-core CPUs to accelerate compute-intensive tasks in leading CAD/CAM/CAE and Media & Entertainment applications that support OpenCL 2.0. Graphics and media professionals can take advantage of its native support for 10-bits per color channel as well as its hardware-accelerated H.265 decode/encode capabilities.

Unlike the original AMD Fiji Radeon Pro Duo graphics card, the new Radeon Pro Duo is air-cooled and conforms with a dual-slot expansion slot height design. It has 32GB of GDDR5 memory unlike the dual-Fiji Radeon Pro duo which uses HBM2. At the rear, it has three full-size DisplayPort connectors as well as one HDMI port available. It supports a single-cable 5K or 8K monitor, as well as a dual-cable 8K or two dual-cable 5K displays. It requires a single 8-pin as well as a 6-pin PSU power connector.

The Radeon Pro Duo can accelerate supported applications or plug-ins for many of today’s popular professional software such as DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk Maya, The Foundry Mari and Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS. With two GPUs working in parallel, it is able to offer 113% performance boost compared to the Radeon Pro W7 7100 in Autodesk Maya with the Radeon ProRender plugin.
