AMD Launches the Ryzen 5 5500X3D in China
Even though the AM5 platform is now well established, AMD is not ready to let the legendary AM4 socket fade away. The company has officially launched the Ryzen 5 5500X3D in the Chinese market.
This CPU is aimed at users on a tight budget who want an affordable processor focused on gaming. The Ryzen 5 5500X3D was previously released in limited regions such as Latin America, and it is now expanding to other markets. It stands as the most affordable way to access AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology.
Specifications and Gaming Performance
The Ryzen 5 5500X3D is based on the 7 nm Zen 3 architecture. It features 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base clock of 3.0 GHz and a boost clock of up to 4.0 GHz. While its clock speeds are slightly lower than those of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, its main strength lies in its cache.
The processor offers a total of 99 MB of combined cache (L2 + L3), including 96 MB of L3 cache. This is a major jump compared to the standard Ryzen 5 5500, which has only 16 MB of L3 cache. Thanks to this large cache, gaming performance improves significantly.
In games, this chip can compete with much newer processors, including Ryzen 7000 series models based on Zen 4 and even some Ryzen 9000 series chips in certain scenarios. It maintains a TDP of 105W.
Although AMD has not officially confirmed the price in China, leaks suggest it could cost under $200. This would place it as a direct competitor to Intel’s current mid-range lineup and entry-level Core Ultra models.
For users who still own a B450 or B550 motherboard, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D represents an excellent upgrade. It allows them to extend the life of their system for several more years while achieving high-level gaming performance.
Importantly, this upgrade does not require moving to DDR5 memory or buying a new motherboard. With this release, AMD shows that the value of a platform is not only about how new it is, but also about how long it can remain relevant.
