As we’ve known for a couple weeks now, AMD is hosting a top-secret Polaris event at Macau this week. Expectations are that AMD will release some samples as well as talk about the upcoming launch of Polaris 10 and 11 at Computex. According to pictures accidently leaked from one of the attendees, the NDA will expire on June 29th, 9am EDT.
A June 29th NDA deadline is a bit earlier than expected considered that AMD is also hosting a public Polaris event at Computex on May 31st. If Polaris has already launched by May 32st, why would the NDA expire in June a month later.
There are three likely possibilities for this. One, the NDA is actually for a whole different purpose, with Vega or Zen being the subject of the NDA and the press being able to share certain details by that date. Some rumours have pointed to Zen and Vega being moved earlier in the year which would necessitate earlier press briefings.
The other scenario is that this is a partial NDA, with it applying to only Polaris 11 for instance while Polaris 10 will launch in May. The last scenario is that the May 32st event is a paper launch, with the cards and reviews to come out on June 29th. Which of these scenarios do you think is most likely?
