AMD Officially Shares Ryzen 7800X3D Benchmarks, Up To 24% Faster Than i9-13900K

AMD has shared its own official benchmarks for the 7800X3D which is due to release in April. This chip is much more anticipated for gaming as with less cores it’s likely to offer a better price to performance ratio than the 7900X3D and 7950X3D and AMD has finally released some benchmarks to confirm that.

Up To 24% Faster Than i9-13900k

The 7800X3D is set to launch at $449 which is around $150 less than the i9-13900k, so this chip could be a genuinely good choice especially when compared to the more expensive Ryzen 9 X3D chips which come in priced around the same or more as the i9-13900K. Previously AMD had only compared it with the 5800X3D but now TomsHardware has gotten hold of benchmarks comparing it against the i9-13900K coming in at up to 24% faster in gaming.

In the benchmakrs shown the two chips were tested in 4 games at 1080p Rainbow Six Siege, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero ‘Down’. Its a shame they didn’t test Horizon Zero Dawn. With this 4 benchmarks we can see AMD taking a healthy lead over the 13900k with up to 23% and 24% in Red Dead and Horizon Zero ‘Dawn’. This is only 4 games though and obviously specifically chosen to make this chip look good. We will have to wait to see the bigger picture when reviewers get hold of the chip. At $449 if you’re looking for that worthwhile upgrade to the top this 7800X3D being cheaper and performing faster than the 13900k, may just be it. Well what about owners of the 5800X3D maybe they’d also be tempted to go up a generation so AMD has provided some benchmarks for those two as well.

Up To 30% Faster Than 5800X3D

Again tested on 4 different games which are all thankfully spelled correctly the AMD Ryzen 5800X3D was pitted against the 7800X3D in; Rainbow Six Siege, Warhammer: Dawn of War III, CS:GO and DOTA 2. The 5800X3D had gains of over 20% in all titles with up to 30% in DOTA 2 though these results probably wouldn’t be enough to convince me if I were a 5800X3D owner to jump up a generation.

This chip definitely looks promising for those willing to go to AM5 especially over the more expensive Ryzen 9 X3D chips. The Ryzen 9 7800X3D will be released on April 6th, 2023 so we won’t know for sure if its a good choice until we can see proper reviews and more thorough testing.
