AMD Will Reuse the Hawk Point Series to Bring the Ryzen 200 Series to Life

To complete the range of AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors, the manufacturer plans to launch new references in the 200 series. These references will arrive later and will likely be introduced together with the Ryzen AI Max and the Krackan. According to the leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, this new AMD Ryzen 200 series will be nothing more than the renamed AMD Ryzen 8040 series — processors with Zen 4 that we know as Hawk Point — which will now carry a new name.

Rebranding Hawk Point Processors for the Ryzen 200 Series

Once again, AMD is introducing processors with a new name but essentially the same underlying hardware. The leaker revealed that two references from the 8040 series will debut under this 200 series. Specifically, the AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS will transform into the AMD Ryzen 7 255H, a CPU that has had the NPU removed. Additionally, the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS will now be branded as the AMD Ryzen 7 260H. However, regarding the latter, it remains unclear if it will also forgo the NPU to focus on offering processors with exclusive AI capabilities in the 300 series.

Zen 4 Cores and RDNA 3 GPU Integration

AMD Will Reuse the Hawk Point Series to Bring the Ryzen 200 Series to Life

Processors built with Zen 4 cores will bring this new series to life, offering a more economical alternative to the current Ryzen AI 300 lineup. At this time, it’s unknown if the clock speeds will remain unchanged. However, the integrated GPU is expected to stay the same, utilizing the Radeon 780M based on RDNA 3 architecture.

AMD, like Intel, aims to differentiate its processors by ranges rather than generations, thus providing the same hardware but with a fresher name.
