AMD Accidentally Posts A Potential Rival to Nvidia RTX Voice

Following the launch of the Nvidia 20XX series of graphics cards back in 2018, many of you may recall the subsequent introduction of RTX Voice. Primarily touting itself as ‘noise cancellation’ feature, which has since sort of amalgamated into a larger piece of umbrella software, the key feature of it was the ability to completely remove (via its GPU AI tensor cores) background noise from voice chat.

The crazy thing too was that it actually worked. And really well! – I actually tested it myself by turning the vacuum cleaner on in the background and recording my voice. And what do you know, it only captured what I was saying!

Now, admittedly, these days RTX Voice is mostly forgotten. It was interesting. It was impressive. Overall though, it was a bit of a novelty that was, in some views, probably too much of an inconvenience to use regularly. – It seems though that following a report via TechSpot, AMD might be preparing the launch of its own RTX Voice equivalent!

AMD Noise Surpression?

According to the source, the video above (more on which shortly) was posted on AMD’s official YouTube channel and was subsequently (and pretty promptly apparently) delisted. Not before, however, someone managed to grab a low-resolution copy (which I’ve re-uploaded above since that recording itself was removed from the AMD subreddit – Not before I grabbed a copy though).

Now, admittedly, I can’t find anything to categorically confirm this chain of events, so take it with a grain of salt. This could be an elaborate fake with an erroneous trail of non-existant virtual breadcrumbs. If accurate though, then AMD might be preparing, possibly with the upcoming launch of their Radeon 7000 GPUs, to introduce their very own noise suppression software.

If this is the case, then it will almost certainly be made an integrated part of their Adrenalin software. Overall though, presuming this is accurate, I can’t help but wonder as to why AMD is bothering with this. As above, RTX Voice was impressive, but it was no more than a bit of a novelty toy to work with their RTX graphics cards (even if it could be modified to also work on much older non-Turing GPUs). Of course though, there’s always the possibility that AMD has taken Nvidia’s idea and ran with it!
