AMD Prioritizes Production of Radeon RX 9070 XT Over Non-XT Model
AMD has decided to prioritize production of the Radeon RX 9070 XT instead of its standard non-XT version — a strategic move aimed at strengthening its position in the upper mid-range GPU market.
According to recent reports, the company led by Lisa Su is focusing its efforts on the more powerful RDNA 4 model to stay competitive against NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series. Although the price gap between the two Radeon versions is relatively small, the XT variant offers significantly better performance, making it far more appealing to gamers.
Why AMD Is Focusing on the RX 9070 XT
Since its release, the RX 9070 XT has become the preferred choice for players due to its excellent balance between price and power. It performs particularly well in ray tracing and takes advantage of the new AI-driven features introduced in the RDNA 4 architecture.
Because of the noticeable performance difference, demand for the non-XT model has dropped sharply. As a result, AMD has decided to reduce its focus on producing the standard RX 9070, ensuring that resources are directed toward the version players actually want.
For consumers, this shift means that the RX 9070 XT will become more readily available on the market, with more consistent stock across multiple manufacturers and competitive pricing. Meanwhile, the non-XT model may turn into a niche product with limited shelf presence.
According to tech outlet PROHARDVER, AMD isn’t halting production of the non-XT version entirely — it’s simply reducing output to match lower demand.
Through this strategy, AMD aims to simplify its lineup and give the RX 9070 XT the spotlight in its segment, avoiding internal competition between two models that serve nearly the same audience.
