The next generation AMD Radeon 8000 Series is planned to be released in 2013- between 1st 2 quarters of 2013. 8000 Series will be based on 28nm “Southern Islands” architecture.
There haven’t been much informational available about Southern Islands or the card’s specification- except that it will use 28nm manufacturing process and according to Feb’s roadmap is planning to bring more HSA and graphics enhancements with more computing power on the GPU die.
The second gen Ultra Low Power APU “Temash” may also be showcased during CES 2013. Almost all the newer APUs and GPUs will use 28nm. Do note: there have been no benchmarks, graphs, comparison “leaks” till now. It shows that AMD has taken every effort to keep this sealed shut till CES 2013. Hopefully, this will pay off well for the end users and for AMD.
As of now, all eyes are on CES 2013 and its upto AMD to showoff their new APUs and GPU units.
