AMD has officially confirmed that its CES 2025 keynote will take place on January 6. During the event, the company is expected to provide new details on its upcoming gaming graphics, likely referring to the next generation of AMD Radeon GPUs based on the RDNA 4 architecture. While AMD has not yet made an official announcement regarding this new series or its exact name, recent updates in published software give us a glimpse of what’s to come. Based on these clues, we now know that at least two new models from the Radeon RX 8000 series are in the works.
The AMD Radeon RX 8600 and RX 8800 models have been spotted in the ROCm (Radeon Open Compute) software, a key tool for artificial intelligence workloads. These listings reveal two new graphics cards that are expected to debut under the Radeon RX 8000 series, with “XT” variants likely arriving first. The Radeon RX 8800 (XT) is expected to cater to the mid-high performance segment, offering an optimal balance of pricing and performance. This model will be powered by AMD’s most powerful GPU in the RDNA 4 family, the NAVI 48.
In addition to the RX 8800, AMD will target the mid-range market with the Radeon RX 8600 (XT), which will feature the Navi 44 GPU. This model is aimed at providing a competitive alternative in the more affordable gaming GPU space, competing against rival offerings from NVIDIA and Intel. As part of its broader lineup, AMD may also introduce additional variants such as non-XT versions or potentially the RX 8700 and RX 8700 XT, though these may not be available immediately following the launch of the RX 8600 and RX 8800 models.
