AMD Ramps Up Radeon RX 6700 Marketing Suggesting a Big Re-Launch is Incoming

While the existence of the Radeon RX 6700 is hardly any secret, when compared to the 6700 XT, AMD never gave it much of a marketing push. Put simply, if you were to visit the AMD website specifically looking at the 6700 series (link here) while you’d see multiple references to the 6700 XT and 6750 XT, you wouldn’t see much in regards to its non-XT counterpart.

Following a report via Videocardz, however, new comparative performance slides have been published by AMD which appear to indicate that they shortly be planning to give the GPU a huge push with consumers. And especially those who might be looking at the Nvidia 3060 Ti as their next upgrade.

AMD Radeon RX 6700

Despite the 6700 hardly being new, these new benchmarking tables provided by AMD are some of the most comprehensive performance figures ever revealed on the GPU. And particularly so given that hardly any reference review samples of the 6700 were given to media partners. – A quick look, however, clearly indicates that AMD is planning a major push for this graphics card and especially so in direct comparison to the Nvidia 3060 Ti.

A specifically curious point is that while AMD has provided their figures from their own in-house 6700 reference model, they have chosen to stack it up against a presumably AIB overclocked version of the 3060 Ti. Typically speaking, benchmarking tables such as this usually only utilise reference models suggesting that AMD really wants to hammer home the comparative performance offered on just the base version of the 6700 against even a relatively premium (and likely far more expensive) 3060 Ti.

Why Now? And Why Not Against an Nvidia Reference Design?

Likely in an effort to attract consumers on limited budgets, it seems incredibly likely that the effective relaunch of the 6700 will offer AMD the opportunity to not only move on soon-to-be last-gen graphics card technology, but also to appeal to people who are desperate for an upgrade, but currently only see the 3060 Ti as their affordable option.

Why wouldn’t they compare it against a reference 3060 Ti though? Well, this is almost certainly due to the fact that Nvidia is shortly set to announce an upgraded version of it featuring GDDR6X memory. An upgrade which is already understood to be offering an uplift of around 10% when compared to the original design.

With the Radeon 6700 currently available for around £320, however, if nothing else it notable undercuts the Nvidia 3060 Ti at the checkout. Albeit, I daresay that in these benchmarking figures, AMD may have possibly neglected to include a key advantage the Nvidia GPU has. Namely, DLSS.

What do you think though? Are you surprised that AMD might be planning a major push for its 6700? – Let us know in the comments!
