AMD to Release BIOS Fix for FMA3 Freezing Bug

While I’ve yet to run into the problem personally, some users are experiencing a major bug with the new AMD Ryzen processors, where if an application is utilising the FMA3 code, the system can freeze. Of course, a simple reboot fixes that up, but it’s likely to happen again when you run the same task. AMD are well aware of this bug and are now said to be working towards a fix.

The FMA3 code bug will be getting released via an update to the motherboard BIOS. This update will then be sent to motherboard vendors, who will then integrate the patch into their own various BIOS software and release updates for their boards. As with any system freezing bug like this, it’s strongly suggested you keep your BIOS up to date, especially on such a new platform that still needs time to mature.

Hopefully, the update won’t take long, and we’re eager to see it release, as well as any other updates which can improve stability and performance, as they’re always most welcome.

We’ll bring you more news on the release of the update as soon as we have it. Have you had any issues with the FMA3 bug so far? Let us know in the comments section.
